Niner continues to expand its lineup with a new line of carbon mountain and cyclocross wheels—available, naturally, in 29-inch only. They will be available on Niner’s Star builds soon and will hit the aftermarket later this summer.
The new carbon mountain bike wheels are designed to be competitive with aftermarket carbon wheels, and will be built with 28 spokes front and rear with straight pull spokes. The rims have a 23mm internal width and 27mm outer width. They are tubeless compatible and will ship with Stan’s NoTubes tape installed. The front hubs will be available in 15mm axle only, while the rear can run 142×12 and can be converted with the included 135mm QR skewer. Standard and XD freehub bodies are available as well. Niner claims a complete weight of 1,670 grams for the set. They will retail for $1,400 a pair.
The carbon cyclocross wheelset will be available in disc-brake only, with 24 spokes up front and 28 spokes rear. The hubs are compatible with QR skewers and thru-axles. The rims are a bit narrower, with a 17mm internal width and 23mm outer. The claimed weight is 1,410 grams for the set. They will also retail for $1,400 a pair.
The cyclocross wheels would be a great match for the RLT which is going through our long-term testing now, and is now available in black. They come stock on the new 5-Star build with Shimano Ultegra Di2 and hydraulic brakes. It retails for $5,499.
If you don’t want to run shifters of any kind, you can now convert your Air9, RLT, or really any bike with a PF30 bottom bracket to singlespeed with the new Biologic 30 adapter. It works with most 24mm spindle cranksets and should be available at your Niner dealer in July for $140.
