Review: Pryme 8 V2 Lite helmet

By Justin Steiner

With the V2 Lite, Pryme has crossed the styling and protection of a brain bucket with the weight of an XC helmet due to in-mold construction. At 300 grams the V2 Lite is nearly half the weight of the plasticshell V2, while passing CPSC, European, and strict Australian safety standards.

This one-size-fits-most helmet is designed to fit small, medium, and large heads by swapping out the three sets of sizing pads included. Despite the lack of retention system, both my lady friend and myself were able to achieve a secure and comfortable fit by mixing and matching pad sizes.

Fitted properly, this helmet disappeared on my head while bombing singletrack and inspired confidence with increased temporal and back-of-head coverage. On cool days, the V2 Lite’s 13 vents allow enough airflow to keep my head cool, but things will get hot when temps rise much over 75° and this helmet will be hot.

If you’re in the market for a brain bucket, the affordability, lightweight, quality pads and solid fit make the V2 Lite a contender. Surely one of the 16 color options will strike your fancy.
