Mountain Bikers Of Santa Cruz (MBOSC) is proud to announce the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival returns for its sixth annual event on April 11-12, 2015. The Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival (SCMBF) is the premier mountain biking event for Santa Cruz County. Featuring an impressive array of cycling inspired events and resources, the festival will impassion our local community, bringing world-renowned professional riders and vendors together for one memorable weekend.
The festival continues to grow year after year with the amazing support of our sponsors, the community, and our volunteers. In its fifth year the 2014 festival attracted more than 9,000 attendees, 395 athletes, 70 sponsors, and 150 volunteers, a 50 percent increase in attendance and 220 percent increase in registered participation over 2012.
In 2014 more than 300 kids aged 12 and under tried their skills at the Kids’ Rodeo and enjoyed a Fun Lap on the Short Track. Those wishing to improve their skills flocked to clinics offered by pro riders such as Kat Sweet and Kirt and Lindsey Voreis. Bike aficionados checked out the latest from top bike industry vendors, demo’d bikes from 12 of top bike manufacturers, and shuttled to the renowned Soquel Demonstration State Forest (Demo). The first day’s festivities concluded with a Saturday after-party featuring Coffee Zombie Collective and both days featured raffles.
The festival is expected to continue to grow in 2015 with a new venue, San Lorenzo Park, in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz. Situated along the San Lorenzo Park Riverway multi-use path, it’s a relaxing 1.5 mile pedal to the popular Emma McCrary Trail built by MBoSC and opened in June 2013. This new location will allow for an expanded Kids’ Rodeo, accommodating two separate age groups to enhance the riding experience for children.
